SOAR Receives Capacity Building Grant from United Way

SOAR Academy has received a grant in the amount of $13,351 from United Way of the Piedmont.  This grant will be used to pave our parking lots and student drop-off zones as well as an 8-foot science and nature trail.   We are so grateful to everyone giving through the United Way!

SOAR Academy would also like to thank the Falatok Family for their donation to this project which will purchase the nature/science items that will go into the learning centers along the trail.

Many, many hugs and kisses to Mr. Doug Lego for his countless hours clearing the land for the nature trail and to his team of Milliken volunteers who will be assembling and placing the items in the learning centers of our new nature trail upon completion of paving!  

A special thanks is also sent to Larry Price of Price Construction for his expert advice and consideration on this project!

SOAR RECEIVES $20,000 GRANT

SOAR has received a $20,000 grant through the SC Rural Communities Compassion Project which is a project conducted under the auspices of the Institute on Family and Neighborhood Life at Clemson University in partnership with the Spartanburg County Foundation.  SOAR will utilize these funds to purchase three interactive whiteboard systems for our classrooms!  This new technology will add many new dimensions to both therapy and classroom services to students.

Make Special Gift to SOAR

SOAR will be adding some new items to our kitchen thanks to the women's group at Episcopal Church of the Advent.  We will be able to add a toaster/convection oven, electric frying pan, blender, mixer, hot plate and new utensils because of the generosity of these ladies!  Students will be utilizing these items in our Life Skills units on Cooking and Kitchen Safety.  Thank you so much for this wonderful gift!



HEALING ARTS PERFORMER, PETER MOORE VISITS SOAR

Students and staff were treated to a wonderful violin performance by Peter Moore from Healing Arts.  Mr. Moore kept us all engaged and interested with his special version of "Name That Tune".  Some of us even got to play his violin!
